The Canadian Teachers’ Federation worked in partnership with The Gambia Teachers’ Union to test a technological solution that aimed to equip and empower women teachers in The Gambia in order to retain them in the teaching profession. Selected women teachers received mobiles phones - tools which enabled mentorship relationships and facilitated learning through virtual professional learning communities. This solution ensured that more girls and young women in school have teachers (and therefore role models) who are women.
